Sao Paulo -
Seven people were killed and more than two dozen injured when a building collapsed late on Tuesday in Brazil's largest city, officials said.
Sao Paulo Civil Defence officials said the death toll would likely rise.
Seven injured victims were in critical condition.
“There are strong indications that other victims are in the rubble,” rescue squad spokesman Marcos Palumbo said.
Rescuers would search without heavy machinery until they were certain that no survivors were in the debris, he added.
The cause of the accident appeared to be structural collapse of the two-storey building.
City officials said it was built without proper permits. - Sapa-dpa
