New York - A New York baby who was safely delivered after a car accident that killed his parents has also died, police said on Monday.

The baby was dubbed a “miracle” in the US media when he survived an emergency C-section delivery after his parents, Orthodox Jews from Brooklyn, were struck in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Sunday.

However the boy, who was delivered prematurely at seven months, also perished early Monday, a spokesman for the New York Police Department told AFP.

Police were searching for the driver and passenger who abandoned their BMW after smashing into the expectant parents' car and fled the scene on foot. - AFP
