Paris -

Charlie Hebdo's star cartoonist Luz, who survived the shooting that robbed the satirical weekly of eight of its editorial staff in January, has revealed he is quitting.

Luz, real name Rénald Luzier, announced his departure in an interview published in Libération, the left-wing daily. “I am no longer Charlie Hebdo”, he said, “but I will always be Charlie.”

Luz was supposed to be at the ill-fated editorial meeting on 7 January but overslept. His graphic novel about the attack, Catharsis, is published today.
