Stockholm - A Stockholm cleaning lady is no longer a suspect in the crash of a runaway train, the Swedish attorney general reported Friday.

The 22-year-old woman was the only person aboard the commuter train when it departed the depot and crashed into an apartment building at Saltsjobaden east of the capital Stockholm.

The cleaner was seriously injured in the crash. The apartment building tenants were unharmed.

The attorney general Friday stated that the cause of the accident was probably due to faulty safety features on the train and at the station.

The railway operator Arriva and the state supervisory authority SL had originally stated that the cleaner had stolen the train. They have since apologised to her. - Sapa-dpa
