Dutch Prince Friso was flown out of Austria on Thursday to be admitted to a rehabilitation clinic following an avalanche accident that left him in a coma, sources told dpa.

Austrian state broadcaster ORF reported that the second son of Queen Beatrix was likely flown to a clinic in London.

The prince had been working near the British capital as an executive of the nuclear firm Urenco.

On February 17, Friso was skiing off-piste at the Austrian resort of Lech when an avalanche buried him.

Because his heart stopped for 50 minutes, he suffered serious brain damage and might never regain consciousness, his doctors at Innsbruck university hospital said last week.

Friso dropped from the royal succession line because he married a commoner, Mabel Wisse Smit. – Sapa-dpa
