London - British police say they are investigating new sexual abuse allegations against disgraced publicist Max Clifford.

Police said on Saturday they have received new information about possible offenses committed by Clifford.

The prominent public relations executive was convicted of eight counts of historic sex abuse earlier this week and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was convicted of crimes committed between 1977 and 1984.

The 71-year-old was one of the most influential figures in the British entertainment world. He advised a number of high-profile clients, including Simon Cowell.

Clifford is one of a number of prominent entertainment figures charged with historic sex abuse. The investigations stem from the case of the late Jimmy Savile, a BBC personality who was found to have abused hundreds of girls and women. - Sapa-AP
