A Berlin man was arrested on Monday, accused of beheading his wife in front of their six children.
The 32-year-old man, who has not been named, allegedly beat and dragged his wife onto their apartment balcony early Monday in the Kreuzberg district of the capital, before pulling out two knives, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” (God is Great) and cutting off her head.
Neighbours said the couple had often argued, and investigators are examining whether the man has psychological problems.
Berlin's interior minister, Frank Henkel, described the event as a “heinous crime,” while the city's Turkish association was offering local residents help and support.
The man will appear before magistrates Tuesday. - Sapa-dpa
