Sydney -
A 64-year-old German woman was charged in a Sydney court on Wednesday with attempting to smuggle into Australia illicit drugs with a street value of 3.3 million Australian dollars ($3.4 million), police said.
Around 5 kilograms of methamphetamines was found in her luggage when she arrived on a flight from Singapore late on Tuesday, the Australian Federal Police said.
Customs and Border Protection officers became suspicious when the luggage was x-rayed. A sniffer dog gave a further alert.
They said white crystals concealed in the lining of the bag were found to be methamphetamines.
The woman was charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. - Sapa-dpa
