Athens - Greek police launched an international appeal on Friday to help with the identification of a 4-year-old foreign blonde girl who was found living in a Roma camp.
Officials were investigating the circumstances surrounding the little girl who was found living with a couple near Farsala in central Greece approximately 280 kilometers north of Athens. DNA tests confirmed they were were not her parents.
Police arrested the 39-year-old man and 40-year-old woman and have charged them with abducting a minor.
The couple claimed to have a total of 14 children and initially said they found the little girl abandoned outside a supermarket. Later they said the girl belonged to the woman, who had conceived the child with a foreign national.
Police said they have asked Interpol to help with the identification of the blond and green-eyed girl.
The girl was discovered during a crackdown on Roma.
