The search for the identity of the English-speaking forest boy discovered in Germany has switched to the Czech Republic.
The teenager, known only as Ray, has indicated he lived in undergrowth on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains for the past five years.
Known locally as Krusne Hory, the area is isolated, rocky and covered in dense woods, and would have been an ideal hideout for a family trying to avoid meeting other people.
German police believe Ray may have walked the 241km to Berlin from the woods, and they have linked up with their Czech counterparts through Interpol.
If this lead proves true, then he would have walked all the way to Berlin from the Czech Republic, said a source close to the case.
This would have been a much harder prospect than simply walking from woods south of Berlin, which is what many believed he had done up until now.
Officials are trying to make Ray a ward of the courts, so someone can be appointed to make decisions on his behalf.
DNA, fingerprint and dental records could also then be given to Interpol.
Officials believe the teenager could be British because he speaks English but only basic German. Ray, who is 1.8m tall with blond hair, is in good physical shape and has no signs of abuse apart from a small scar. - Daily Mail
