Chicago -

A girl was shot dead when a weekend prank went horribly wrong and a man opened fire on a car full of teenagers in the US state of Arkansas.

Seven teenagers had squeezed into one car, driven over to a classmate's house and tossed leaves on a vehicle parked in the driveway, the Little Rock police department said in a statement on Tuesday.

They then drove back 45 minutes later and threw eggs, toilet paper and mayonnaise onto the car, but Willie Noble, the father of the classmate - who now faces murder charges - was waiting for them.

Noble told police he had “fired his handgun to scare them”, according to the police statement. The incident occurred on Saturday.

Adrian Broadway, 15, was fatally shot in the head. One of the other teens received minor injuries from broken glass after “multiple” bullets pierced the car.

“It seems to be an ongoing prank between the kids,” Little Rock police lieutenant Sidney Allen told KARK news, a CNN affiliate station.

“Mr Noble's child allegedly had done a prank to some of the kids on Halloween. As a friendly feud, they went over there to do some pranks on their house.” - Sapa-AFP
