Jerusalem -

Israel's military says it has opened several criminal investigations into incidents that took place during last year's Gaza war against the Islamic militant group Hamas.

In a statement late on Thursday it says the Military Advocate General ordered six investigations, two of which were concluded with no wrongdoing found.

One case concerns the death of about 20 people who had taken shelter at a UN school in July.

The Gaza war left more than 2 100 Palestinians dead, mostly civilians, according to Palestinian and UN officials.

On the Israeli side, 66 soldiers and six civilians were killed.
