Police say Japan's Cabinet minister in charge of financial services and postal reforms has been found dead.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that Tadahiro Matsushita, the minister of postal reforms and financial services, was found dead at his home in Tokyo on Monday. He was 73. Police are investigating the cause of death.

Police had no further comment.

Matsushita was appointed to the post in June by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda. - Sapa-AP
