Jerusalem - A lame donkey has a new leg up on life.
Orthopaedic technician Yehuda Pilosof has fitted the donkey with an artificial leg - his first work on an animal in a 32-year career. The donkey had lost most of the lower half of his right hind leg.
"I wanted to help him to live," Pilosof said.
Lisa Amouyal, 27, found the donkey last month limping near her home on the outskirts of Jerusalem and brought it to live at the retirement home where she works.
Taking pity on the donkey, retirement home officials asked Pilosof if he could help. Pilosof agreed and is pleased with the results. "It's lovely to see him," he said.
For now, the donkey is recovering in Amouyal's backyard, where he spends his days playing with her dog. - Sapa-AP
