Athens - A large amount of weaponry that included some 30 guns and several kilos of explosives found on the premises of the Libyan embassy here have been handed over to Greek police, officials said Tuesday.
The arms were turned over on Monday on “the orders of the Libyan government at its embassy in Athens” situated on the same premises where diplomats of the regime of Moamer Kadhafi had served, police said in a statement.
Among the weapons were some 30 firearms of various types and calibres, two machine guns, 15 kilos (33 pounds) of explosives, detonators, two hand grenades, and some 1,200 bullets.
The weapons were sent for ballistics testing as part of an investigation launched by the counter-terrorism department, police said. - Sapa-AFP
