Buenos Aires -
An ex-girlfriend of legendary footballer Diego Maradona was arrested on Wednesday at a Buenos Aires airport for allegedly stealing from him in Dubai, police said.
“Rocio Oliva was arrested by Interpol agents when she arrived at the (Ezeiza International) terminal around 7.20pm (22h20 GMT) on a flight,” a federal police source said.
The Argentine footballer, 53, charges that Oliva, 22, made off with items including watches and diamond earrings from their former home.
The footballer travelled to Dubai, where he lived with Oliva, to file the suit in the country where he was hired as a sports promoter.
The UAE then issued an international arrest warrant for her.
A footballer herself, Oliva denies the allegations. She claims that Maradona struck her. - Sapa-AFP
