A Norwegian national flag is seen among flowers to mourn the victims of a shooting spree on an island in the countryside and a bomb attack in the capital Oslo July 23, 2011. Pope Benedict expressed sympathy Saturday for the victims of a suspected right-wing zealot who killed up to 98 people in both incidents and urged Norwegians to reject hatred and violence.
The man suspected of a gun and bomb attack in Norway has called his deeds atrocious yet necessary, his defense lawyer said on Saturday.
“He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary,” defense lawyer Geir Lippestad told TV2 news.
Lippestad said his client had said he was willing to explain himself in a court hearing on Monday.

This type of activity has started before the 911 wars in regard to the WEST CIA etc...causing these type of bombings all over the World and blaming the Muslims...The CIA gave birth to the Al-Qeida's Taliban's etc and the Sadaam's & Osama's of this world. As long as ANY religion does not preach Tolerance to ONE another and to RESPECT each other in regard to colour, race, creed etc, their will never be peace...just a corrupt system of belief...NO MAN is superior over another EXCEPT in GOD Consciousness.

@ double standards: Show some respect for the young people that lost their lives. And bare in mind that SUSPECTS are innocent until proven guilty BY THE COURT OF LAW, and not by the media and couch judges.

"The court will decide at the hearing whether to keep the suspect in detention pending trial". This is ridiculous. Extremism is what it is, the same from Christian and Muslim, Hindu or Jewish sides. if they are denied bail when they are of other faiths, why even mention the possiblity of deciding if he should be detained. there are still "illegal combatants" in Gitmo and most have been freed after years without trial. Every western leader expressed outrage when news broke of the attacks in Norway but they were stunned into muted comment only a day later when it was clear their usual suspects were not to blame this time as has happend in the past. it would appear the victems were of a group of mixed races and nationalities, judging by the few names that apeared in the news so far.it would be interesting to see how this is handled by the polititians. who are the victims and where will we see a list of names?
