Baghdad - More than 100 family members of missing soldiers abducted by Islamic State in June broke into Parliament and vandalised the building on Tuesday, a witness inside told Reuters.

The relatives of soldiers taken by the militant group from Tikrit, north of Baghdad, had been scheduled to address Parliament about the fate of their loved ones.

Instead, they started to violently protest outside the building, according to witnesses, and later forced their way inside.

A witness inside Parliament said: “They broke into Parliament. They roughed up some guards and officials. They broke the equipment (inside the assembly hall).” - Reuters
