Copenhagen - A Danish photographer who was held captive in northern Syria for 13 months has been released, the Danish Foreign Ministry has confirmed.
Daniel Rya Ottosen, who had travelled to the Syria to document the conflict, was taken hostage in May.
The ministry did not confirm whether a ransom had been paid in exchange for his release.
Local media have reported that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a militant group that has made significant gains across northern Iraq, was behind the kidnapping. - Sapa-dpa
