Manila - A pregnant woman in the Philippines has survived being stabbed 24 times in an attack allegedly led by two police officers facing robbery and extortion charges, police said on Friday.
Grace Capistrano, 22, was a witness in the case against the two police officers, the regional police chief said.
Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao said the two suspects have been taken into custody, while manhunt operations were launched against two accomplices.
Capistrano told investigators that four suspects abducted her from her house in Angono town in Rizal province, 30 kilometres east of Manila, on Tuesday.
They then taped her hands and mouth and stabbed her in different parts of her body, shot her once in the leg and then dumped her in a ravine, apparently thinking she was already dead.
But Capistrano was able to crawl her way up to the road where a driver of a passing cargo truck spotted her and brought her to a police station.
The police then took her to a hospital for treatment. Her baby also survived the ordeal, police said. -
Oh btw, someone very close to me got stabbed, and survived. I DO see that as a blessing from God, and my view stands, no matter what!

God is caring for her and her baby.I love you Lord.
how in darwin's grave did this turn into commentary about God?
Perhaps God gives us free will (allowing these life forms to make the decision to inflict violence on two human beings} Perhaps God intervened in the attack (it seems they believed she was dead at one point and thats when the violence ended - you dont stab someone 24 times to merely injure them and who's to say the gunshot to the leg was not to check for any pain response?} and gave this woman (perhaps because of the life she would bring into the world) the strength to fight for both their lives. We have no way of knowing what God is.EVEN IF you discredit any religion, dig deep enough and the similarities between them are almost identical, its almost as if a story is being told over and over again in a slightly different way so as to be understood by those to whom it is being told. I can neither prove or disprove God's existence, I can only ask how life can be created from nothing and how that life will eventually develop not only a conscience, but all so a consciousness.
it's not God that stabs people it's people.
There are horrible things going on everywere, in the world it dosn't mean theres no GOD...God is light , supreme energy for godness, we are human beings look at all the wars in the world, past and present and how man treats his fellow man. Man is not light or engery, man is flesh and blood, and dies , all man kind are brothers and sisters what ever colour we are all the human race..and every body dies...and then towards that supreme light we go it's what we do in this life...that gives us a chance to get near gods supreme engery...which is love and bliss. yes this is a horrible story, just like many on this planet...But nothing to do with GOD.
So glad that there are progressive thinking people here :). I agree with most of you about the whole god thing. Atheist, with are powers combined we can form rational and logical thoughts!
The definition of God changes whenever science explains something previously unexplained. This has happened throughout history, can't we just all get along and understand that God is for those who don't really understand the Universe as it really is?
For those who brought God into this, or rather denigrated bringing God into this thread: We live in a "fallen" and sin-sick world. We are born with a sin nature that inclines us towards depravity - sound moral training, loving affirmation and discipline help to counter this, as also does the Good News of Jesus Christ. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God - not one of us can claim to be perfect - we've all done wrong. God wants a relationship with us and he has a plan and purpose for our lives, however our wayward choices (including turning our backs on him) and other people who are in bondage to their sinful urges and compulsions, contribute to our missing out on God's plan for our lives. We do not know the full background details, but nevertheless I pray that the Lord brings some good out of this horrible ordeal - maybe even that the victim andor her attackers come to know the Lord and have their lives transformed. I pray also God's plan and purpose for the unborn baby.

@Chris and Anonymous ---> Correction - It's the 'Godless' or wicked people who do such things...
well @ least it not just in SA??
"There is no God, grow up people." There is a God, that's why she survived AND the baby. There's a reason why they did survive and only God knows. God is in control and we simple human beings just can't understand but he's working. always.
It takes just as much faith for you to believe there isn't a God as it does for me to believe there is one. And before you spout off comments against me actually pause and think about that comment.
this is just an incredibly lucky woman, i stand by my atheism.
God lets people choose their own path and eventually every1 will have to face the consequences of their actions.you'll see someday. theres always going to be that ultimate struggle between good and evil. it just wasnt her time to go. people will pass on only when god wills it .
So a woman gets stabbed 24 times, therefore God exists? And, uh, why would God create someone who'd feel comfortable about stabbing a pregnant woman 24 times?
There is no God, grow up people.
@Anon and Pauline - So it's ok that god made her suffer by allowing the bad guys to hurt her, but he helped her survive because he has a purpose for herchild? That is the most idiot rationalization I ever heard!
What is this comment below I don't even...
God? God? Are you seriously evoking the workings of "GOD" in this case? If "God" was real or gave a damn, he wouldn't let a pregnant woman be stabbed 24 times, let alone be shot, let alone be dumped in a ditch.
