Prince Charles celebrates birthday on tourComment on this story
Wellington - Britain’s Prince Charles will celebrate his 64th birthday in Wellington on Wednesday at the home of his mother's representative in New Zealand with 64 others who were also born on this day.
Their names were drawn in a ballot from about 1 500 people born on November 14 who applied to join the prince and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, at the party in Government House.
The affair will be hosted by the Governor-General, Sir Jerry Mateparae, who is also celebrating his birthday on Wednesday.
Prince Charles and his wife are making a six-day tour in New Zealand to mark Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebrations of 60 years on the British throne.
They are scheduled to open a new visitor centre at Government House, which has been declared New Zealand's Diamond Jubilee gift to the queen.
The couple will make a walkabout on the Wellington harbour waterfront and the prince will meet movie director Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor, his fellow worker on The Lord Of The Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, which will have its premiere in two weeks. - Sapa-dpa
