New York -

Lawyers for former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn have worked out the outlines of a compensation deal for a New York hotel maid at the centre of sexual assault allegations, in an effort to settle the high profile case out of court, the New York Daily News reported Monday.

The civil case against Strauss-Kahn by Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel maid at the Sofitel Hotel in New York, was expected to be announced by the Bronx Supreme Court Justice Douglas McKeon later Monday.

The Daily News said the deal would call for Strauss-Kahn to pay Diallo millions of dollars to settle the case. The former director general of the IMF was not required to be present in court.

French newspapers reported that Strauss-Kahn had agreed to pay up to 6 million dollars to Diallo. Strauss-Kahn has denied such reports.

Diallo claimed Strauss-Kahn assaulted her in a hotel suite in May 2011. But the criminal case was dismissed by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, who had found Diallo's statements related to the sexual attack inconsistent. She then sued Strauss-Kahn in the civil court in the Bronx, a borough of New York City. - Sapa-dpa
