Three killed in German bus accident

Dessau, Germany - Three people were killed when a Danish bus crashed on a motorway in the east of Germany early Saturday, police said.

The bus, carrying 66 persons, was on its way from Berlin to Munich when the accident occurred around 1 am on the A9 motorway near the city of Dessau.

A number of passengers were injured, some of them seriously, rescue workers said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

Police closed the motorway in both directions while emergency services tried to cut free one passenger who remained trapped in the bus. - Sapa-dpa
