Three mountaineers have gone missing in Nepal, the Tourism Ministry said on Thursday.
Two high-altitude Nepali climbers and an Indian were missing at the height of 7 500 metres on the 8 585-metre Mount Yalang Kang. The ministry said they had gone missing on Tuesday.
A search and rescue operation for them was on, according to Dipendra Paudel at the Mountaineering Department of the Tourism Ministry. The Indian climber was named as Chanda Gayan, 34.
She was accompanied by her climbing guides, Temba Sherpa and Dawa Wonchu Sherpa.
The climbing scene in Nepal has been in the doldrums since the April 18 avalanche on Mount Everest, in which 16 sherpas were killed. - Sapa-dpa
