Bangkok - A Thai court has issued arrest warrants for the owner and manager of a local massage parlour for human trafficking, an official confirmed on Wednesday.

The warrants, issued by the Bangkok Criminal Court late Tuesday, were in response to a police raid on a local massage parlour which found seven Myanmar migrant girls under the age of 18 working as prostitutes.

“In addition to the human trafficking charge, the men will also be charged with operating a brothel and illegal exploitation of underage girls,” Police Commander Chaiyuth Malayat said.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand but lax enforcement and collusion between brothels and authorities has seen a boom in the sex industry.
