Alleged Ponzi victims asked to come forward

Pastor Colin Davids leaves the Western Cape High court where he is accused of running the multi-million rand fraud operation.

The Hawks are calling on victory of alleged Ponzi scheme mastermind Pastor Colin Davids to come forward.

According to Captain Lloyd Ramovha of the Hawks, the 39-year-old Plattekloof pastor is accused of defrauding victims of millions of rands (“New year court date for pastor,” Northern News, June 27).

He is set to make his follow-up appearance in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday January 18, and is out on R100000 bail after appearing in court in September last year.

He faces charges of fraud and contravening the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act and Banks Act after his trading company, Platinum Forex, which is not registered by the Financial Services Board, allegedly duped investors with promises of higher than normal returns on their investments.

The case is at an advanced stage with many “investors” having submitted affidavits.

The Hawks have urged victims to co-operate with investigators and contact Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Hardenberg on 082 850 9747 or email him at HardenbergJ@saps.gov.za for appointments to depose affidavits.
