A side street in Parow was transformed into a scene of destruction over the weekend, as a monster, a computer-generated one, sent dozens of extras fleeing. Nearby, the faithful were off to church to slay monsters of a different kind. According to a crew member, they were filming a soft drink commercial with Dubai-based Joy Films. The commercial, to be flighted in February, features a musician as the hero, battling a monster for the last can of cooldrink in town. They spent Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4 in Louis Trichardt Street, and will move to the Cape Town CBD for further filming, with 170 extras and 65 crew members.
