Coding geniuses

■ Brothers Yaseen, left, and Taariq Mowzer, from Fairbairn College, Goodwood, proved their mettle in the 2016 Standard Bank Programming Olympiad, an annual coding contest for high school pupils, which attracted 6 941 entries from across the country. Olympiad veteran Yaseen won the silver medal. Newcomer Taariq, who is in Grade 9, won the bronze medal. “Only Taariq’s brother Yaseen succeeded in winning a medal at such a young age,” said retired olympiad manager Peter Waker. “Yaseen went on to win silver in 2013. It is also the first time in the 33-year history of the Programming Olympiad that we have had two brothers in the finals.”
