THE local cruise season got under way in Durban at the weekend, first with the arrival of the MSC Opera on Friday, and then yesterday, when this 242m-long cruise liner, the MS Rotterdam, called in from Reunion for a two-day stopover. The Holland America liner brought in 1 217 passengers and 605 crew, who are boosting the local economy by visiting local tourism spots. The ship, which left Rotterdam in September, is due back in her home port next month. She sails this evening for Port Elizabeth. Meanwhile, the MSC Opera is on her first cruise from Durban, her home port until March 24.Picture: Steven Naidoo
