COMMENTS have been invited from members of the public on the fixing of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station in Arcadia Street, between Hilda and Grosvenor streets in Hatfield.
The Tshwane Metro Council intends starting with the construction of a BRT station on the median island in Arcadia Street from Tuesday.
A BRT service is expected to operate from Paul Kruger Street/CBD to Hatfield and Menlyn, ending in Mamelodi. There will be a bus service between Mamelodi and Menlyn as well as between the CBD to Menlyn through Hatfield.
It has been recommended to the council that the “currently adopted route” be revised to include a service to Hatfield via Kotze/Jorissen/University Road and that the service from Menlyn to Mamelodi be rerouted via Simon Vermooten Road, Tsamaya Avenue, Waltloo Road, to Mamelodi (Mahube Valley), rather than Solomon Mahlangu Drive (Hans Strijdom Road) to Mamelodi.
Particulars of the proposed Hatfield station are available for inspection during office hours at the office of the Project Work Stream Leader: IRPT/BRT Infrastructure Implementation, first floor, Room 101, InfoTech Building, 1090 Arcadia Street, Hatfield.
Any objections or representations in respect of the proposed fixing of the BRT station must be lodged with the Project Work Stream Leader, in writing by not later than Monday.
