The ANC Youth League in Limpopo wants 70 percent marks to be given to pupils in the province who had not received their textbooks on time.
This was the call made by the league’s chairman Rudzani Ludere during the Peter Mokaba memorial lecture. “There are pupils who have never seen the cover of a book and it is not because of this province, it is because of the nonsensical administration that has been put on us by the national government,” fumed Ludere.
Ludere urged young people in Limpopo to march against the administrators because he believes they (administrators) have put the lives of young people in danger. He said the fact that pupils did not receive their books was not their fault but that the debacle should be blamed on Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, and the cabinet.
“Pupils who could not get books in time must be given 70 percent free marks. We must fight for this particular pass and we must go to the streets to march for them to be passed because it is not their fault,” he said.
With only four months before final exams, Ludere said it would be impossible for pupils to cover the work they should have done a long time ago.
