Cape Town - Durban’s 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17) has been given a touch of glitz and glamour with a host of celebrities set to jet into the city next week.

According to Times Live, Angelina Jolie, U2's Bono and Leonardo DiCaprio, amongst others, will be attending the conference, which starts November 28.

They are set to join a number of other high profile personalities, including actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former US vice-president Al Gore, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and Richard Branson, according to the online report.

Gore and DiCaprio are known for their outspoken stance on climate change issues, with both fronting high-profile films and various green campaigns.

Bono is an active member of Greenpeace and drives a car which runs on ethanol.

Jolie, a UN High Commissioner for Refugees ambassador, founded the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which funds education programmes for children affected by man-made and natural disasters.
