Johannesburg - There is something to be said for the ease and simplicity of using Apple products. Most of the time, they offer elegant and extremely user-friendly solutions. Here are five useful ways to enhance your experience with iPad:

Enable “Send Last Location” to make it easier to find your iPad.

Find My iPad is useful when you have lost or misplaced your iPad. Set up a free iCloud account and you will be able to find, lock or erase your iPad – or prevent it from being erased or reactivated without your password, rendering it useless.

A new feature, Send Last Location, will send your iPad’s last location to Apple when the battery is low.

To enable it: launch the Settings app; scroll down, tap on iCloud; scroll down again, tap on Find My iPad. Tap On/Off toggle to enable.

To view all your Safari tabs at once, and see tabs open on other devices signed into iCloud: pinch the screen with three fingers.

Increase battery life:

Your new iPad is expected to have at least nine hours of battery life. You can check the usage and standby time since the last full charge through the Settings app, under Time Since Last Full Charge (Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage). With iOS 8, to identify battery hogs: launch the Settings app; tap on General; tap on Usage; tap on Battery Usage.

When you hear a song and want the name: ask Siri (long press the home button) “What is this song?”

You like to type with your thumbs while holding the iPad: try splitting the keyboard. Touch and hold either side of the virtual keyboard, and swipe out towards the iPad’s edges to split it. Stick it together by swiping into the middle.
