Fifth Cell's Hybrid offers an unusual twist on third-person shooters.

Set in a barely sketched future where humanity struggles to defend Earth from the invading Variants, it offers the usual host of locations, weapons and combat drones to choose from amid masses of deathmatch action.

However, the unique way in which Hybrid expands while simultaneously limiting player movement adds an extra dimension.

You can jet-pack around battle arenas but flight is limited to sheltering at prescribed cover spots, so making strategy paramount to success in an interesting (and online only) take on the sci-fi shooter. - The Independent
