Google's street view is one of the best things born of the internet. And we all know that the internet was created to share cat pictures and videos. So why not combine the two to create something awesome?

Now the Hiroshima prefecture in Japan has done exactly that. The prefecture on Tuesday launched what can best be described as the world's first cat's eye street view, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The map, which was created using the same equipment used to make Google's street view maps, allows visitors to explore parts of Onomichi city from the perspective of a cat.

A Hiroshima tourism official said they were looking to introduce a different persepctive on their cities. The city of Onomichi is a port town and known for its number of cats. It also has a museum dedicated to cat dolls.

Users of the map can wander around the shops as a cat would. The map includes details of the various shops as well as including pictures and information on 11 of the best known cats living in the area.
