Johannesburg - A South African businessman had his website shut down by Google earlier this week after the search engine claimed it did not comply with regulations, according to a report on Thursday.

Jean Paul Reid, the owner of a company that sold naked and semi-naked household services, discovered the site had been shut down on Monday, The Times newspaper reported.

However, his site was restored after Google realised there had been an error.

“With so many pages being created, we sometimes make the wrong call,” said head of communications for Google Sub-Saharan Africa, Julie Taylor.

“When a mistake is brought to our attention, we act quickly to reinstate the site,” she said. - Sapa
