Johannesburg - “You have exceeded the amount of times you are allowed to call this call centre.”
Zandel Robson of Sandton could not believe her ears when she called Vodacom’s customer care line this week.
And according to Vodacom, there is no mistake. Customers are allowed to call only 20 times a month, said spokesman Richard Boorman.
Robson said that she had been trying since last month to get a 3G internet connection working.
“I moved house and where I live now there is very little signal. When I first moved in, it worked. But later it just disconnected and has not worked since February 21.”
Robson has called the cellphone network’s call centre several times and has been on the phone with consultants for five to six hours.
This week Vodacom sent a technician to assess Robson’s problem.
“He told me there was no signal in my apartment. He said I should call Vodacom again and get them to organise me a booster or a longer antenna. But when I called this morning, an automated voice told me I had exceeded the number of times I can call. I have been barred.”
if 20 calls were exceeded, “the customer was given another number to call so that we can continue to work on genuine queries.”
