London - Good news for lovers of party games: charades has entered the 21st century. An app called Heads Up! is causing a sensation at festive gatherings.

Singer Cheryl Cole is among fans of the game, which has been downloaded thousands of times, tweeting over Christmas: “We’re all playing it.”

One player holds the smartphone to their forehead - screen outwards. The others, prompted by instructions on the screen, hum, mime or say clues to describe a celebrity, song, animal or accent.

As a clock ticks down, the phone-holder has to guess the answer.

Guess correctly and you simply tilt the phone at an angle for the app to draw a new ‘card’ as you race to answer as many as possible before time runs out.

Moreover, the software automatically films each game, so you can share your friends’ embarrassing antics online afterwards. - Daily Mail
