Cape Town - A cellphone app that puts all public transport times and stops at passengers’ fingertips is to be launched in Cape Town on Monday.

The app would make it easier for people to plan their trips, the mayoral committee member for transport, Brett Herron, said.

It is to be unveiled by mayor Patricia de Lille at the Cape Town Stadium.

“The development of this app is indicative of the city’s commitment to cutting-edge technological solutions in times of increasing urbanisation, where mobility is crucial if we are to realise our full potential,” Herron said. “The launch coincides with the Transport for Cape Town commemoration and Transit-Oriented Development Summit.”

The summit, to held at the stadium on Tuesday, will be facilitated by experts and those present will be able to take part in discussions, Herron said.

“There will also be world café-style discussions with experts and other thought leaders on the best approach to transit-oriented development in Cape Town. The main points of the discussion will be used to shape the city’s strategy,” Herron said.
