Johannesburg - There is no scientific evidence to indicate cellphone towers negatively affect human health, Vodacom said in a radio news broadcast on Saturday.

“The World Health Organisation ... say categorically, with 20 years of study, there is nothing yet that convinces experts that there are any adverse health affects from electromagnetic frequency as used in cellphones...,” said spokesman Richard Boorman.

He was responding to protesters in Constantia, Cape Town, who claim the building of a signal tower in the area could compromise residents' health. - Sapa
