Lamontville Golden Arrows are long known to be a family-run club, but they are now also one of the first Premier Soccer League outfits to have two sets of brothers in their squad at the same time.

This comes after they had their talented playmaker Papi Zothwane's younger brother, Nhlanhla, in their final package of players to be registered before the transfer window closed on Wednesday.

The other set of brothers at the Durban south team is Joseph and Richard Henyekane, while in the past there was also Tsepo and Nkamel Ntsoane wearing the green and gold jerseys.

Arrows' managing director Rocky Madlala, whose two sisters are also part of the club, described Nhlanhla Zothwane as a promising midfielder and he also said they were hoping to finalise a deal with Santos for the transfer of goalkeeper Brendan Wardle.

Nhlanhla, 20, comes from the Castle regional league in Gauteng.

Arrows also signed another 20-year-old midfielder in Jabulani Ntombela from the amateur ranks in northern KwaZulu-Natal, but their first recruit of the month-long transfer window, Abia Nale from City Pillars in the First Division, has already scored two goals in the four appearances he made since early January.

Madlala said Santos had become willing to transfer Wardle after realising they could lose him to a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this season.

There was also talk locally that skillful, but wayward midfielder Sipho Ngobese was linked to a return to Arrows after gaining less game time than expected at neighbours AmaZulu.

For their own needs, AmaZulu registered a leftback from First Division leaders Free State Stars, Elias Ntabele, on Wednesday.

However, they were struggling to agree terms with Sundowns for attacking player Prince Zulu, said Usuthu team manager-cum-spokesman James Dlamini before the deadline.

In anothers setback for the basement club, the Premier Soccer League dismissed their claim that defender Bongani Cashibe had signed a binding contract with them before he joined Orlando Pirates recently as a free agent.

Maritzburg United chairperson Farouk Kadodia was said to be busy trying to conclude last-minute deals for one or two players in Gauteng before his team faced Black Leopards in Thohoyandou yesterday.
