George Town, Cayman Islands – World 100 metre champions Yohan Blake, of Jamaica, and Carmelita Jeter, of the USA, won their respective events here at the inaugural Cayman Invitational meet on Wednesday.

Blake won the men's 100m in 9.84, the second fastest time in the world this year, only behind training partner Usain Bolt's 9.82.

“Just the other day I was telling Usain that I am going to come out here to show him something,” Blake said. “We are friends like that. So I just came out here tonight to execute my race properly. There are things to work on but the race was good overall.”

On the women's side, Jeter, who struggled early to get into her rhythm, recovered to take the victory in the last five metres with a time of 11.04.
