Jobodwana out of Commonwealth Games

Johannesburg -South African sprint sensation Anaso Jobodwana announced late Friday afternoon that he will not be competing at the Commonwealth Games later this month.

The prodigious speedster took to social networking website Facebook to make the announcement of his absence from the global showpiece set for the July 23 start in Glasgow, Scotland.

“After a lot of talk with my coach, physios and most importantly my body, it has been decided that it would be unfair to compete at sub par level at a grand international event such as the Commonwealth Games,” Jobodwana wrote on Facebook.

Many had hoped to see Jobodwana strut his stuff on the world stage after an impressive London Olympics, where he lined up in the final of the 200m against the fastest man in history, Usain Bolt.

South African men's sprint hopes will now be spearheaded by the two fastest men in the country, Simon Magakwe and Akani Simbine.
