Cape Town – Parliament’s sport and recreation portfolio committee on Sunday congratulated South African long jump Olympic silver medallist Luvo Manyonga on his achievement in Rio.

“As the chairperson of the committee, I am very proud of Luvo Manyonga for grabbing the second chance that he has been given by both hands,” Beauty Dlulane said in a statement.

“He has made the whole country proud. As a person who has been in contact with him over the past year, I am really impressed with the way he has performed. He has proven that talent, dedication, and determination are a great combination when you want to succeed.”

Dlulane also congratulated all the other athletes who had made South Africa proud by winning silver and bronze medals.

“I would like to congratulate Cameron van der Burgh and Chad Le Clos for winning three silver medals for swimming, Shaun Keeling and Lawrence Brittain for winning a silver medal for rowing, and the rugby sevens team for winning a bronze medal at Rio.”

Dlulane also wished the South African athletes who were yet to perform good luck.
