Cape Town – Murder-accused Oscar Pistorius has been spotted kayaking in the Cape.

The Daily Voice saw the Olympic star enjoying the sunny weather and water sports with three unidentified friends at Hermanus’ Old Harbour on Sunday morning.

Pistorius, 26, faces charges of murder for shooting his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, 29, through a locked toilet door on February 14.

He was seen chatting briefly with the men before they launched their kayaks into the ocean.

The Paralympic 400m gold medalist looked relaxed, wearing flesh-coloured prosthetic legs instead of his trademark carbon-fibre blades, a life jacket and board shorts.

His brown hair, which had been gelled back neatly at his numerous court appearances following the murder, was tousled and overgrown and the usually clean-shaven sprinter was sporting a beard.

The international sports star, who family say spends his days at home in prayer, has been spotted out and about several times in the last few months.

He was seen at a party at the Kitchen Bar restaurant at the Fourways Design Quarter in Johannesburg

He was also seen at training sessions at the University of Pretoria’s athletics field on April 4 and June 27.

On June 29, Pistorius was twice seen at an Audi dealership in Johannesburg.

He was accompanied by bodyguards and an unknown woman, who his family identified as a cousin.

Arnold Pistorius, the sportsman’s uncle and family spokesman, was unavailable for comment.

The family’s communications team also failed to respond to several calls, emails and messages from the Daily Voice requesting comment on Sunday.

Pistorius was granted R1 million bail on February 22 but appealed the bail conditions imposed by Magistrate Desmond Nair about a month later.

Judge Bert Bam loosened the reins and granted Pistorius’ appeal to be allowed to travel both overseas and in SA, with permission and the provision of an itinerary to police.

Pistorius’ next court date is on August 19 – Reeva’s birthday.
