Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius was no closer to qualifying for this year's world championships and next year's Olympics when he clocked 46.19 seconds in the 400 metres at the Golden Spike on Tuesday.
The South African finished sixth.
Pistorius, known as the “Blade Runner,” needs to run a personal-best 45.25 seconds to qualify for the worlds in Daegu, South Korea, this summer and the London Games.
He said “I'm a bit disappointed with the time, I thought I could have done better.”
He ran his best of 45.61 in South Africa's Pretoria in March and will have more chances at UUS meets in Portland and New York City.
He runs on carbon-fiber prosthetic limbs. -
