Johannesburg – Javelin thrower Sunette Viljoen will turn out as the lone South African competitor at the Diamond League athletics meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday night.

Having heaved a national record of 69.35 metres in New York in June, Viljoen, who finished fourth at the London Olympics, will look to prove herself against the trio that beat her to the podium in the English capital.

World record holder Barbora Spotakova of the Czech Republic, who won gold at the quadrennial Games earlier this month, and the German pairing of Christina Obergfoll, and Linda Stahl, who bagged silver and bronze, will all turn out in the 11th leg of the Diamond League series. – Sapa
