Johannesburg – Four wins in a row have pushed the Cape Cobras into second place on the One-Day Cup table, giving them a chance to challenge for the number-one spot.

The Capetonians, who have 22 points from eight games, can guarantee a play-off qualification with a bonus-point win over the Knights in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

They are the only team that can challenge runaway leaders Highveld Lions with 26 points from eight matches for an automatic place in the December 14 final.

Cobras coach Paul Adams, however, is not getting carried away.

“I think it's more important to keep taking each game one at a time rather than look that far,” said Adams.

The Cobras crushed the Warriors in their last outing on Friday night when they eased to a 37-run victory.

Adams said it was a good all-round performance from his side in all facets of their play.

The Cobras needed to build on the confidence they had gained from this victory, he said.

“Performance after performance has kept building things up for us. We're fortunate we have had that, which has allowed us to kick on nicely.” – Sapa
