Titans looking to bounce back

Johannesburg – The Titans will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to the Cape Cobras when they take on the Warriors in their domestic T20 cricket match at Buffalo Park, East London on Friday.

The Titans had only themselves to blame for failing to chase down 130 at Sahara Park Newlands, and know that Friday's game is now key to their campaign.

“We got ourselves into a good position and then we totally screwed it up,” captain Henry Davids said in a statement on Thursday.

“I think they were 20 or 30 runs short because it was a very good wicket, but we waited too long in the game and then came up against a guy like Narine and Hendricks, who's in a purple patch at the moment.

“The one good thing about this team is we know how to bounce back. The ball is in our court now. I think we were in exactly the same position last year, where we had to win our last four games, and we made it through.”

The Titans showed incredible resolve to win four games on the trot to reach the domestic T20 final earlier this season, and may need something similar now.

They currently trail the Warriors by two points, but have played a game less than Davy Jacobs's side, who have had an unpredictable time in the competition.

Since winning their first two games, the Warriors have lost three and tied two.

“We've been involved in a lot of close games,” said Jacobs.

“If we can win two of our last three then we should be fine.

“We've been happy with our batters, but if you look at the stats our bowling in the first six overs has been a problem. It's something that we've been working on and we were better in the last game.”

Both franchises retained unchanged squads from Wednesday, when the Warriors lost to the Knights by five runs. – Sapa
