Johannesburg – Outgoing Cricket SA (CSA) acting chief executive Jacques Faul said on Thursday he believed he was leaving CSA in good shape.
Faul leaves CSA at the end of next month to take up his new post as chief executive of the Northerns Cricket Union on March 1, replacing former CEO Elise Lombard, who died in August last year.
“We have managed to reassure existing sponsors of our sound governance structures and (were able) to attract some new ones, and I leave CSA in good financial and cricketing health,” Faul said in a statement on Thursday.
“It has been a very demanding task over the past 12 months and I would like to thank the board and the members' forum of CSA for all the support they have given me, and particularly the CSA staff for the way they have kept our operations going very smoothly in uncertain times.”
He said CSA's annual general meeting on Saturday would see the election of the newly constituted board in terms of approved corporate governance principles.
“We will also have a new president and vice-president who will bring fresh leadership on the road ahead.”
Faul said the appointment of a new CEO was well on track and he was confident the procedure would be completed by the end of February.
“I know from my recent attendance at ICC meetings that the Proteas brand remains a very strong and respected one, and I wish my successor all the best on the road ahead.”
He expressed his appreciation to all those he had worked with, both at CSA and North West Cricket.
“I joined North West 10 years ago as CEO, and I have wonderful memories of the time I spent there.
“That is where I grew up both as a player and as an administrator and I am very grateful to North West for the grounding they have given me and, of course, for the opportunity they allowed me to be acting CEO at CSA for the past year.” – Sapa
